Find out more about preserved Liatris

What is Liatris?

Liatris is a wildflower that captivates with its natural beauty. Its spikes are made up of small tubular flowers. The fresh version has a soft and velvety texture to the touch, while its subtle floral scent brings a touch of freshness.

Preserved Liatris retains its velvety texture and vibrant colour thanks to a careful process that ensures each ear remains as beautiful as the day it was born, without the need for additional water or care. Although the natural fragrance fades during preservation, the appearance of preserved Liatris is retained, with the added benefit of longevity, allowing its beauty to be enjoyed for much longer. They come in a wide range of vibrant colours: purple, pink, white and shades in between.

Durability of Liatris

Although fresh Liatris enchants us with its vibrant colour and velvety texture, its beauty is short-lived as the flowers fade over time. In general, the shelf life of fresh Liatris is between 7 and 10 days, depending on environmental conditions and care.

That is why preserved Liatris is an ideal alternative for those moments when we want to enjoy its elegance for longer. A special preservation process allows the flowers to retain their original shape, colour and texture for months or even years without the need for water or additional care.

How to keep preserved Liatris in good condition?

  • Avoid any action that may crush, press or bend foliage, petals and flowers.
  • Avoid direct or indirect exposure to sunlight.
  • Avoid the presence of intense sources of indirect light, including those behind glass or similar surfaces.
  • Avoid prolonged exposure to environments with humidity levels above 50%.
  • Avoid continuous exposure to temperatures exceeding 30°C.
  • The use of these elements is recommended for indoor use only.

Professional uses for Liatris

For which professionals is preserved Liatris useful?

  • Interior designers: particularly useful for those seeking stability in their designs.
  • Florists: create long-lasting and original floral arrangements. Your flowers can be combined with other preserved or artificial elements to create unique compositions that will last over time.
  • Event decorators: Ensure consistent and high quality decoration throughout long events.

What are the most common occasions for using Laitris?

  • At corporate events, its soft texture and natural appearance provide a welcoming and professional atmosphere that may be less achievable with other preserved plants that do not maintain the same level of apparent freshness and vibrancy.
  • For permanent decoration in homes and offices, it brings a touch of nature without the problems associated with live plants. In these contexts, preserved Liatris excels in its ability to blend into any decorative space, providing a consistent, high quality aesthetic without the maintenance that other options may require.
  • At weddings it is used to decorate tables, bridal bouquets, boutonnieres, headdresses and any other floral detail.

This is how we ensure the quality of our liatris.

Production and preservation process

  1. Selection and preparation: We carefully select the Liatris stems to ensure they are in optimum condition.
  2. Preservative treatment: The preservative and colorant (50% glycerin + water + colorants) are applied by the absorption method, immersing the lower part of the stems in the liquid. After 24 to 36 hours, when the preservative has been totally absorbed, the product can pass to the next phase.
  3. Drying: The product passes to the drying station with a higher temperature and a lower percentage of ambient humidity where it will remain for 24 to 48 hours.
  4. Inspection and packaging: Finally, we remove damaged and wilted leaves and select only the best, healthiest and most attractive stems, and carefully pack it to protect it during transportation and storage.

Why do we believe so strongly in the quality of Saint Dorothy?

We carefully control the entire process. From the care and treatment of the plants, the specific manual selection of the specimens that present the best conditions, the preservation process, to the packaging and transport through our own transport service Verdnatura.

Before packaging, each plant is subjected to a final inspection. We check the integrity of the plant’s structure, flexibility and overall appearance. In addition, the plants are carefully packed to avoid damage during transport and we use packaging materials that protect the plants from moisture and shocks.

Finally, we collect and analyze feedback from florists and other customers to identify areas for improvement in our production and preservation processes and implement continuous improvements based on this feedback to ensure that our plants maintain the highest quality.
